Terms and Conditions for Hog Roast Hire – Meon Valley Butchers
Hire of Equipment – The customer is responsible for any damage, loss, or theft of equipment hired from Meon Valley Butchers. Please inform us immediately of any discrepancies or concerns upon receipt, you will be provided with a number to call. No complaints will be accepted after the equipment is returned. If you encounter any issues during the hire period, please turn off the equipment, make it safe, and contact us immediately on 01329 388176 or the on call number we will provide. We are happy to provide guidance and support. While we take reasonable care to ensure safety, Meon Valley Hog Roast accepts no liability for damage to property, or injuries or accidents involving persons using the equipment.
Delivery and Collection – Our hog roast machines are designed to fit through standard doors and gates. Please notify us of any access difficulties at the time of booking. The equipment can be heavy; assistance may be required from the hirer for safe placement. We will arrange to collect the equipment after your event (if you do not require a carver), typically the same or following day, with cleaning included in the hire.
Insurance and Safety Certificates – We hold full Public Liability Insurance; however, this does not cover the hirer’s own equipment or personal liability. It is the hirer’s responsibility to ensure their own insurance covers loss, damage, theft, injury, and public liability risks. All equipment is PAT tested and gas safety certified. Certificates are available upon request.
Bookings and Payments – A provisional quote will be provided, valid for 14 days. After this, a new quote may be required. Booking is only confirmed once a deposit of £300 is received and the booking form is completed in full. Verbal confirmation is subject to receipt of the deposit and paperwork. • Full payment is required if the hire date is within two weeks of booking. The remaining balance must be paid at least 14 days before the event. Non-payment may result in cancellation.
Cancellation Policy • Cancellations made after booking are non-refundable. We recommend purchasing suitable event insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances.
Data Protection and Privacy. We process your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Your data will be used solely for the purposes of managing your hire agreement, including contact, invoicing, and legal compliance. You have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of your data by contacting us at [email protected]m. • We will not share your data with third parties without your explicit consent, except where required by law.

How does your service work?
We offer machine hire for private events such as weddings, parties, and functions. Our services include machine hire only, or machine hire with a pig, along with various add-ons. We also provide drop-off, collection, setup, and cleanup services to ensure a seamless experience.

What does/ can your packages include?
Machine hire only

How does the pig cooking process work?
For a half pig (30-45kg), we recommend dropping it off approximately 8.5 hours before your desired serving time.
For a larger pig (50-65kg), please allow 9.5 to 10 hours for cooking.
Please plan your event timing accordingly to ensure the pig is cooked thoroughly.
Hog Roast Machine Information
The hog roast machine requires no mains power and is operated by gas, which is included in the hire cost.
Mains power may be required for a food vendor setup or additional equipment; please advise us in advance if this is needed.
What if I need an early drop-off?
An early drop-off fee of £100 applies if the pig is dropped off before 6am. Please notify us in advance to accommodate this.
What does the hire only process include?
The machine will be delivered at your chosen time. Full instructions and a handover will be provided.
A contact number for a staff member will be available during your event for any questions or concerns.
What if I want someone to oversee the pig cooking onsite?
Our staff can deliver, set up, and start the cook, then provide a handover to you or a designated person (over 18) with instructions on how to oversee the process, which mainly involves hourly checks but If you’d prefer an onsite staff member to oversee the cook for the duration, we can provide this service at an additional cost.
Do you offer a carver service?
Yes, we can send a team member approximately 1 hour before serving to carve the pig and lay out a buffet for guests to self-serve. They will remain onsite for approximately 2 hours and will clean down and remove everything before leaving.
What additional food options do you offer?
Rolls, apple sauce, and other sides cooked on our premises and delivered hot.
Pulled pork and crackling cooked at our premises and delivered in hot boxes with any additions required.
Vegetarian and vegan options and a range of salads are available for delivery or self-serve setups.
Can you provide catering for smaller events, midday serves or corporate lunches?
Absolutely. Our pulled pork, crackling, and sides cooked at our premises are ideal for smaller gatherings, midday corporate events, or events requiring earlier serving times.
Do you consider food vendor hire for events?
Yes, we are available for food vendor hire. Please contact us to discuss your event details.
What are your booking and payment terms?

Do you operate a table service?
No, we operate on a buffet or food vendor basis only. We provide some bowls and trays for salads and sauces, but the hirer is responsible for supplying crockery, serving dishes, and plates for the pulled pork, crackling, and rolls.

Yes, we offer flexible, tailored packages based on your needs.
What is included in the cleanup service?
We handle collection and cleanup of our equipment, but you are responsible for removing any personal or leftover items.
Do you have outdoor or indoor setup options?
We can only provide outdoor setups due to health and safety. We can provide hire of our gazebos and trestle tables if required
